will be responsible for them on and off the slopes. We will take unaccompanied
juniors over 12 years old, provided they are of a reasonable intermediate
standard of skiing. The Oval Ski Club is guided by Wirral Education Authority
and Snowsport England’s advice on taking young people away on residential
snowsport holidays.
Ideally located to access the
mighty Three Valleys, La Tania is a little secret haven nestled amongst the
tree-lined slopes between its expensive neighbours – the chic Courcheval and
the picturesque Meribel. It does not try to compete with its more upmarket
neighbours, but instead has carved out its own niche as a good value, quiet
family friendly base from which to hit the snow sure slopes of The Three
Valleys. La Tania was created for the 1992 Winter Olympics, and with the wood
clad buildings make it one of the more attractive of the French purpose built
resorts.
While the après ski is generally low key,
the buzzing resort centre offers a handful of shops and warm inviting bars,
perfect for unwinding over a creamy mug of hot chocolate or a steaming vin
chaud.
The Slopes
The 3 Valleys comprise the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania,
Méribel, Brides-Les-Bains, Les Menuires – Saint Martin, Val Thorens and Orelle:
The largest ski area in the world, linked together by ski runs and ski lifts,
with 600 km of interconnected slopes and 180 ski lifts, catering for all
standards of skiers & boarders. Snow reliability is good right through to
mid April, even down at to the village level of La Tania at 1400m. The tree
lined slopes help maintain the snow, together with ample snow making capacity
when required.
Snowboarder will
find it easy to get around using chairs and gondolas and avoid the drag lifts.
Within the Three valleys are a number of Terrain parks and boarder cross
courses.
La Tania is perfectly placed to access
the magnificence of the Three Valleys, as you are only 2 easily accessible
lifts away from either Courchevel or Meribel; even Val Thorens is accessible to
all but the most tentative skier/boarder.
Accommodation
We will be staying at the 3 star Hotel La Montana, located on the piste, and right in the centre of La Tania. It is the
ideal hotel for those looking for a touch of pampering in a most convenient ski
in/ ski out setting, less than 100m from the main lift and the ski school
meeting point.
