Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find the answer to your question below then please email us and we’ll do our best to reply as soon as possible.

How can I learn how to ski?

We welcome new members of all ages and abilities to join our club. Lessons run from September to May. Just turn up at the hut 20 minutes before the lesson starts so you have time to join, and get your skis and boots sorted out. See the Learn page for lesson times.

Do I need to register for lessons?

No. We currently don’t require registration as we have always been able to cope with the demand. This is always under review and may change if too many people start turning up!

Do I need to fill out any forms when I join?

Yes you will need to fill out a Membership Form. See the Learn page for details.

How can I pay?

There is no need to pay in advance. You can pay when you attend for your first lesson. Cash or cheque (sorry, no electronic payment methods are currently available).

What do I need to wear?

All those participating must wear gloves, long sleeve tops and long trousers. You will also need ski socks (or a pair of football socks will do in the short term). We provide lessons in all weather so be prepared to be out in the cold and wet!

Do I need to arrive early?

Yes, 20 minutes before your lesson time ideally. This gives you plenty of time to get your skis and boots sorted out, and discuss any issues you may have with an instructor.

Why do you need to know my weight?

We need your weight so that the ski bindings can be set correctly. We do have scales at the club but it will save time if you have this information readily available.

Where are you?

We are based at the Oval Leisure Centre in Bebington, Wirral. See the Contact page for more information.

When are you open?

From September to May. Junior lessons are on a Saturday between 10am and 2pm, and adult lessons are on a Sunday between 4 and 7pm. See the Learn page for more details.

How much does it cost?

Each session costs £6, or £5 if you use your own equipment. Annual membership is also required. See the Learn page for more details.

Do you provide skis and boots for hire?

Yes, we have a full range of skis and boots, included in the session price.

Can I ski with my kids?

We run family ski sessions once a month during the Sunday evening session. All skiers must be able to turn and stop safely to ski during these sessions. Dates are advertised in the ski hut on the notice board. Please note there will be no instruction during these sessions.

Can I race for the ski club?

Yes! We organize teams in all age categories for the Summer Race League in Stoke, and during the winter in Pendle. This provides a great way to improve your skiing skills and have lots of fun. See our Race page for more details

Can I get more involved in the club?

Yes, we are always looking for volunteers to help behind the desk, to fit boots and skis, organise social activites and to become ski instructors. Full training will be given if fitting boots and skis, and also if you fancy qualifying as an instructor.

Do you offer boarding lessons?

Sorry, we no longer provide snowboarding lessons as we don’t have any qualified instructors. The nearest slope for snowboarding lessons is Runcorn Ski Centre.
